Church Road, Oare

An alternative scheme for a site on the edge of the village of Oare which previously had planning approval for a small chalet bungalow. In appraising the site and its context it was felt that the previous scheme was an under-development and that the site had the potential to accommodate a larger property.

The village of Oare has a strong variety of architectural styles and materials that reflect various architectural periods spanning several hundred years up to the end of the last century. It was argued that a 21st century style of architecture would continue the architectural evolution of the village and so a contemporary scheme was approved.

A semi-basement level opening directly onto a south facing sunken courtyard provides an extra storey of additional accommodation. The upper floors, including a roof terrace enjoy unobstructed views of opening fields.
